Hello! At first let me wish you all the best for 2012 - happy new year, people!
I hope you will enjoy many amazing moments, that you will keep your beloved and you will make also new friends I wish you to stay healthy, because it is the most important thing!
I also must thank you for all support you gave me in 2011 - I hope my dA year 2012 will be at least as nice as 2011, because thanks to you, that year was really great when it came to dA things!
But in general, I am happy 2011 is over. It was not a good year for me and my family. Too many bad events, too many disappointments, too many days spent in hospital and even sadder places. So I hope 2012 can be a new start for something nice again.
And because I am a person who loves turning points, start of the new year is a good chance to set my goals. So although some people are mad about it, let me set my New Year's resolution:New Year's resolutions
1) to lose more weight. Which means to exercise and ride a "bike" on regular basis. I already do that, so I should be able to keep that.
2) to be more strict about daily food regime. Which means to do my best to REALLY have 5 meals a day. And to eat less sweets.
3) to get my second university master degree and to finally finish the school.
4) to get a driving licence and to really use the car.
5) to find a good and well-paid job.
6) to try to be a bit more active, which means doing more things, to have more fun, spending more time outside...
7) to meet Lunchi
in Germany and to have a ZOO phototour with them!
And time to time, I post a journal, which should inform my new watchers about me - because I do not want to be only an animal photos supplier
there is also a girl behind the camera. Since I wrote my last jounal about me, I got more than 7000 new watchers. I welcome them and I hope they are interested in reading some info about me
some of you have already read it, but I think it is not that terrible to post that again after a year
I post it also because many people asked me the same questions in few weeks.
It is "self-interview", because this form is quite reader-friendly. Woxys presents.......... herself.Well... Woxys, who are you? Where do you live?
I am a girl and currently a university student, who is now looking for a good job. I live in the Czech republic, which is very safe, modern, democratic and beautiful small country in central Europe. I will once tell you more about my home country
my family owns a flat in Brno, which is the second largest Czech city so I live together with my parents and younger sister. What do you study? I have noticed, that many people think that you work as a photographer... So?
Oh no, I do not study anything related to photography or art. I finished studying of journalism and media studies, so I have already one master degree. To have two of them, I am currently studying for graduation exams of political science. As you can see, no art is included
department of journalism and media studies offers some classes for students who want to be photographers, but I have never attended any similar class. And to be completely honest, I do not like photography at all. It is not interesting for me Are you kidding me? Your bloody gallery is FULL of photos! How comes that you do not love photography?!
Because I am not a photographer. I am a "ZOO photographer". I only like taking photos, when I can be close to my beloved animals, observing them, enjoying their presence
almost all my other photos suck I am not able to take good photos of buildings, people, flowers, landscapes... And I usually do not even try
I use my camera almost only to take photos of animals. But about being a bit artistic" - I can say that I also draw and I also write stories. But to create something, I need to gain some feed-back from people Mhhhhhm. So that's why you joined dA, right? Because of feed-back?
Yes and no. I joined dA, because my best friend Allerlei
joined this site and I wanted to give feed-back comments and faves to her, to support her. So I created my own account to be able to do so. Haha, 2 months after joining dA, I had amazing THREE pageviews  I started to post some of my drawings. But... let's say that none of them became really popular...You want to say, that they sucked.
I still like those pictures
time to time, I get an idea to remove them to make my gallery more user-friendly. But I am nostalgic person, I would miss them. So they stay So... now I would like to know, how a person, who does not like photography and who posts naive drawings, became a dA photographer, whose photos receive quite nice number of faves.
Believe or not, it all started with boredom and... vanity.
I once visited ZOO Brno with my friend and I took some very very old camera with me. I do not know why, I was probably bored. I took few very crappy and blurry photos of wolves and I posted them here on dA. And each of those TERRIBLE and blurry photos got much more faves than my drawings!
So I took some more photos. And again, they got some faves!
After few months, I asked my parents and they allowed me to use their digital camera Canon S5 IS. Err... Why did not you use that better camera before?
As I said, I was not interested in photography! My family owned that camera for many months before I asked to use it. I was the only member of the family, who never took a photo with it
but I started using this camera most of my photos have been taken with Canon S5 IS. The quality of the photos got much better and people started to be more interested about my art. Few faves turned into tens, tens faves turned into hundreds...
and of course, because I am vain, it encouraged me to try even harder, to take more photos, to try to edit them to make them look better, to have more species of animals in my gallery... Some people also bought my photos (thanks!
) and I started to be interested in getting new camera. Because of support of my parents and my watchers, I finally bought Canon 500D - my first SLR camera in summer 2010! It seems like everybody can be a photographer like you.
Sure! That's true. Some people say that I am gifted (thank you
), but in fact, I just take camera and shoot and shoot and shoot. When I visit a ZOO, I usually take 1800 photos! And finally, only some 100-200 are acceptable for journals and only some very few of them are good enough to be posted as deviations And can people use your photos?
Usually yes, but I want them to ask first, because I want to have control over usage of my photos. People can use them for manipulations and for drawing references and for school projects
but I do NOT like reposting
I really do not like, when somebody takes my originals to include them to his/her own gallery outside dA without changing them. Why? The originals should stay only here on dA.
I think I am tolerant enough I am glad when people use my work for their own projects. If they give me credit, everything is ok for me. Credit is kind of advertisement, but also kind of protection for me
fair, is not it?Ok. Back to animals. You have quite nice variety of animal species in your gallery. Do you live in the ZOO or what?
Czech republic is very small country, but it has more than 15 mostly wonderful ZOOs, which are usually perfectly photographer-friendly
they provide great conditions for both, for visitors and animals. ZOO, which is located in Czech capital, Prague, was even announced to be the world's 7 best ZOO by magazine Forbes! Czech ZOOs are located close to each other, because of small size of my country. For example, it takes me 15 minutes to get to ZOO Brno, 1,5 hour to get to ZOO Jihlava, 1,5 hour to get to ZOO Olomouc, 2 hours to get to ZOO Zlin, 2,5 hours to get to ZOO Prague! And entrance fee is very low, usually only 2-5 USD for student, so visiting ZOOs very often is really not a problem.Do not you feel guilty when you visit ZOOs and take photos of the captive animals?
No, not at all. I used to be anti-ZOO, but the more I studied about ZOOs, the more I support them. I know that the more I visit the ZOO, the more money it has and the better conditions are created for animals. I love ZOOs. One good ZOO is much better help for animals than thousands of activists, who want to close ZOOs, spreading bullshits about freeeee animalaalzzz. That's the fact.As a photographer, do you dream about visiting some certain facility? Or about taking photos of some certain animals?
Sure... One of my dreams has already came true I saw and took photos of Baby, Amazon river dolphin
but I would like to take photos of Mexican wolves, of black wolves, of gray fox, of Corsac fox, of Cape fox, of Swift fox. I dream about taking photos of belugas, dolphins and orcas, mostly underwater
that's why I would like to visit mostly American facilities Sea world Orlando, ZOO Brookfield, ZOO Minnesota... But also dolphinarium in Harderwijk and oceanarium in Valencia in Spain or ZOO in Moscow You obviously love animals...
Yes, I do! I also got and idea, that I should inform people about the animals. They are nice enough to pose for me, so I pay back with informing about their species. I think that such attitude is quite fair
I am very happy when people say, that I managed to show them some new facts or even animals species they did not know before! It seems that you also like dA!
It is my second home But there are also some problems here, right?
Yes. I hate art thieves. I report them almost every day.
I also do not like people, who repost my photos without permission.
And I also do not like people, who have dozens thousands of watchers and they feel the need to post 4 deviations a day into different categories, occupying them 24 hours a day, so no other deviants have a chance to show their art *facepalm* I have at least 300 GB of ZOO photos and I still post only one photo a day. I think it is fair play with other deviants
I love faves and I do care about pageviews, but I do not feel the need to post 4 photos a day to occupy 4 categories
it seems selfish to me
And now some animals I love - of course I love much more species
