Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Some thieves can really make you laugh - especially when they tell you fantastic stories how they took a photo, which is in fact your own!

Hey I would like to give you a helpful tip on the theives who steal your photo you can prevent this yourself when you submit a deviation. If you click on your deviantions look at the satistics and you will see the number of times your image was downloaded. This is an easy way for a lot of people to steal your work.

So next time when you click Submit Art and when you upload your file you will then see a box that is checked marked that says Allow downloadable image. You can always uncheck this box to not have anyone download your image. You can also go back and do this with any deviantion you have submitted by clicking 'Edit'. This will help some but of course there is always the right click and
'Save Picture As' thing. Not sure if you knew this or not but hope this helps!

but I make my shots some 800X600 px large, so not allowing download can not help, people would be still able to download it

If you submitt some 1500px wide photo, but people see only 800px version, forbidden download button does not allow them to download that 1500px full size version. They can still get 800px version

and as I always submitt only final version (700-900px wide), this option can not help me anyway
