Back. Illegal repost, adorable baby animals -PHOTOS

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 24, 2013, 1:12 PM

Hi guys :-)

Thank you for nice words under my last journal, you pleased me :aww:
When I have some time now, I will do my best to answer your notes and comments... I have 2700 comments in my message box

I am back after some rest - I was sleeping quite a lot, so I was silent for few days. I usually fell asleep before I could post a journal :XD:
Well, there was no big celebration of my master degree, we just had some evening with great deserts - but I want to celebrate it with the rest of the family too, because we are very close  so after graduation ceremony, I think we would celebrate it in some restaurant or at least at home, but with a cake.

Oh food! Guess what, I got a looooot of weight back because of thesis stress :XD:
Unfortunately, I am that kind of person who really needs to eat when it is stressed. So I ate like an animal!!!!!! :noes:
At first it seemed to be ok for several weeks... but then I quickly got many kilos back :XD:
But you know what?
I do not care. Even some kilos back are a good price for a finished studying ;D
I can get depressed, or I can say "well, sh*t happens, now you have completed the university, so you can lose weight again" :D I choose the second way :giggle:
So since tomorrow, after this rest I needed, I am having my "five healthy meals a day + riding a bike and exercising" mode again! :D
It is a pity that I got some kilos again, but I know that there was no other way, my will is not strong enough to finish the thesis AND to lose weight together

Alsoooooooo.... that person, who kept posting my photos, did not deactivate the FB account, nor FB did that :/ I think she just put it on hold to make us calmer, but then she started reposting again. The first photo she posted is a property of a well-known dA photographer. Sigh. But facebook is taking my illegally posted photos down, so nice!

In the Czech republic, we are having the first presidental election campaign.
To explain that: we are parliementary democracy, so we normally vote for members of Chamber of Deputies and Senate. The prezident was elected by the members of those two chambers. But there was a new law which changed the Constitution, so the Czechs would newly elect the president :) so... we now had the first presidental campaign in our history. Quite interesting to observe it, all the people here are very disgusted or excited about it :XD: it is really interesting to watch it. We use two-round plurality voting system.

Feature for a kiriban winner will be given next time :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaadorable babiiiieeees!

Has this thief at least taken your stuff down now?
Hopefully other artists she's stolen from will also help in the fight for their rights...

This is one of the reasons that I put the ugly DA watermark on all of my stuff, pretty much,
except for the stuff I don't mind/care about much, like stock images. Everything else, even
if I'm just an amateur; has watermark on it.

I know you add watermark to your photo's but maybe you should add bigger ones to them?
Doesn't have to be DA's one, but just something that makes it much harder for them to crop
out the watermark and claim ignorance.

yeah, it is definitely time for bigger watermark :(
and facebook took it down

It's a shame because I love seeing photo's like yours and hiding
them behind ugly watermarks can take away from the photo sometimes.
People like that child ruin everything for everyone else.
I'm too afraid to not have DA's watermark on my wildlife photo's
thanks to people like her...

And good that they took down the photo's at least... now to make sure
the other artists know their works been stolen, see if we can't at least
do that much for them.

A 30 year old child! :D She should know better then...
she's an adult and should be setting an example to the younger generation!

I was looking at that FB page, thinking it wasn't too bad, that they stated that it's not their stuff, thinking that I've "liked" pages like that to see daily photos... But then I saw the attitude of the person who runs it. Disgustingly unprofessional and very, very rude. That, I think, is the real issue. I don't understand people sometimes...

I'm now blocked from that page for politely sticking up for someone who politely posted and was harassed for it. I'm glad the bebbeh animal pictures are here, it certainly makes things feel better. :)

And by the way, that meerkat is absolutely adorable. I went to the LA Zoo the other day, and saw two elderly meerkat buddies that had to be separated from the main group. They were so sweet, and I felt like I could connect with them far better, since I was alone at the exhibit (whereas people always crowd the main meerkat habitat). The one kept looking at me with these soulful eyes. Animals really are amazing.
Thanks for taking your awesome photographs, I really love seeing the unique way that you capture animals' personalities. Nevermind the rude people. You're awesome, Woxys. ^_^

Sheesh. Damned art thieves...they have a lot of nerve. Try telling her to get her OWN camera and take her OWN pictures. This is one thing I worry about as a photographer. I don't spend so much time at zoos so people can steal work....it would just make me furious.

:huggle: So happy for your success! And weight, ahhh! It gets all us women, I fear. I've gained 30 lbs in the past few years when I used to maintain my weight and eat all I want. :XD: Hormones start changing and then BAM...weight gain. ARG!

I contacted the facebook group. Personally, I thought I was very polite. I didn't mention names, all I said was if they weren't taking the photos themselves, they needed to ask permission and post links to the original photo or they'd get in trouble because that's stealing. I received a rather rude response...quite a few, actually. Fro the moderator of the page saying I need to look up facebook's policy and that I'm breaking rules...somehow. They were rather rude and told me to delete myself from their page before they did it for me. *sigh* I really wish they weren't so rude. I'm sorry I couldn't help you and your friends anymore.

You should get the law involved, you'd win. This is unfair to you and it's ridiculous how the thieves are getting off the hook. I'd like to see them TRY to sue you for cyberbullying -_- really, get the law involved and just watch how fast those photos come down.

Baby animals make everything better, but sadly don't prevent thieves from thieving. But they do get kisses on the nose. Yesh they do~ <3

I'm happy that your thesis is over and done, though, even if it came with a bit of weight. T'is well worth it in the end!

Once a child abuse ring had a group on there disguised as a group for parents to talk about their kids. It was on TV. They were caught and prosecuted and yet six months+ later, Facebook still hadn't taken it down.

Things like this happening is almost the entire reason that I boycot Facebook. There's no moderation at all. (The other two reasons being the fact that they spam people, and dodgy privacy-invading schemes that you have to opt out of... except they don't tell you that they exist, nevermind that you have to opt out.) They make it as hard as possible to contact them and then they don't respond and do nothing about it whatsoever. Ihatethemsomuch. *shakes fist*

Congratulations on the master's degree though. :D:heart:

Oh, and by the way... I know both a lawyer and a law student, if it helps at all. And the lawyer happens to be a copyright and trademark specialist.

Do you happen to know if lawyers can represent people from other countries? Or just ones from their own?
Reply
:iconsomniumastrum:
SomniumAstrum Featured By Owner Jan 24, 2013
I'm not sure, it probably depends where the work is being done.. where things are being filed. I expect it would need filing in the country the offense was committed in but I'm not 100% on that. I'll ask whichever of them appears online next.

Cool thanks. It's just that I've been looking online for a an IP lawyer for legal advice but I don't want to be charged for it because not sure if it will be worth it. Might be since the person has blatantly stolen, cropped and offered my image for DL as a wallpaper with my copyright gone. That's a bit much for me to let go :(

:iconsomniumastrum:

Neither of them have appeared online yet. Sigh. I'll keep looking.

There are a few forums that give free advice I think. And I think there are agencies that are set up in some countries which are free. It might need some research though.

Yeah that's always the way

I've been looking as well, I'm going to a community centre tomorrow that aparently gives free law advice but I have a feeling IP law won't be covered, I'll find out though.

Do you know of any good forums I could look through? :)

I did have links to some but the harddrive that I had the links saved on died. :( Never buy from Western Digital if you have a choice. Three harddrives in a row (two of them replacements for the previous ones) had exactly the same fault. Different batches and models too. I'll see if I can refind them though.

My law student friend is online on msn right now but he hasn't replied yet. I'll let you know as soon as he does. :)

I wished we in Germany could elect our president or, more important, the chancellor. But our parliament is just as unflexible as it was back in the Republic of Weimar...

I can't believe that person is still stealing other people's work! It's so hard to report things on FB as there never seems to be an appropriate option on the list. :(

Of course the person who runs the facebook account stalks your dA. That's how all thieves and ignorant brats work - they go through the comments too, looking for attention and using your supporters to rile up theirs. Might want to get looking into some of the laws around where you live, because some people don't take legal action seriously.
