Eurasian wolf from ZOO Prague, Czech republic ;)
Those wolves are very rare in Czech nature... :( there are only some 11 of them... Although their numbers are rising slowly, there is still no chance to see them in the wild :(

Beautiful face, and such curious eyes and expression....that's so sad about how few there are. :-( I get so upset over this stuff.... I'm glad there are still a few....hopefully someday they will make a comeback.

yes, there are few wolves in my land, but few years ago, there was NOT a single one! People killed them all and for many many, many decades my country was ,,wolves-free" :P

But they are returning!!! :dance: there is a pack in ,,Beskydy" mountines, it is very unique area, where there are many forests and mountines :aww: you can also meet brown bear or a lynx there :aww:

So it can seem very sad, that there are only 11 or so, but still it means there are more and more of them :aww:

That is true. I'm happy that they are returning!! That's such wonderful news. It must be that that area is secluded enough that they can work on rebuilding their population. wolves are so wonderful, along with the other animals that humans have decimated the populations of....so sad. I do hope they keep coming back though!!! :heart:

at first people were afraid. In this area, people have herds of sheep and time to time, wolves attacked sheep. So people wanted to kill them...

fortunately, our government devided and finally created special law - people, whose domestic animals were killed by big endangered beasts (wolves, lynx, bears) can ask for special amount of money. So they get their satisfaction and they have lower motivation to kill wolves...

That makes sense...I think that's the age-old story. I like your governments idea of a solution though. I wish more places would start instituting the same sort of idea. I think that's great...there's no better motivation for the human race than money...well...just about anyway. Hopefully with that in place they can make a full comeback, though it will definitely take time. :hug:
