The cougar by woxys The cougar by woxys
Jaguar (Panthera onca) who has just arrived to ZOO Olomouc :D

Female Inti, "waiting for a partner" - black male named Perry came later from ZOO Berlin :D
Inti must wait before he gets older and stronger, as he is very young :giggle:
So Inti will have a young wonderful male (here is the photo: fav.me/d6iehdv) - what a lucky girl ;D

Older women who date with younger men are called cougars - that's for the title ;) this cat is indeed a jaguar ;D
(Idea stolen from ~neosoc)

Anyone who google for "leopard" could find million good images, It's not necessary insert watermark on the middle of the image.
I know that many new photographers think they are the best and everyone would like to use they images, if you think that, you could submit your images on any image bank and then become rich!
So... if you don't want to try that to avoid they refuse your image and then you got depressed, upload your images without those annoying watermark on the middle of the images. At least, if it's not enough it to be on your profile, try to put your watermark at side (Actualy because anyone with low knowledge of photoshop can erase watermarks)
And make this comunity more deviant and more artistic.
Nah"! I hate those watermaks... it sucks.
Anyone agree?

lol, puppy, you are not even able to recognize a JAGUAR ;D although it is clearly written there :D that's for the first point ;)
At second, my dear puppy - my photos have been taken and reposted by other persons SO MANY TIMES that you can only dream about having such popular shots yourself ;) some of my photos have DOZENS of illegal copies - just one shot! And some of them have been shared and liked by more than 20 000 people when some thieves posted them on Facebook against my will.

That watermark is a protection for MY property and it works very, very but VERY well :D
So I kind of do not care about an opinion of somebody who can not even imagine the troubles which come along with thousands of views and faves ;)

And do not worry, puppy, I sell my images, it also works pretty well! thank you for caring for me!

... You do realize what a watermark is for right? Some artists - Believe it or not- Actually don't want other people taking credit for the their picture. It may be annoying to you, but it is helpful for woxys. Besides, simply moving the watermark to the side can easily be cropped, making it easier than erasing the watermark.
No I do not agree, I don't think people would agree with you.

Well.. No one are obligated to give images for anyone. I have images on Deviant Art and I have described that the usage are under my aproval only.
But those that I really want to sell I upload on Dreamstime at: www.dreamstime.com/maxsp_portf…
It's not a matter of protect the image only, because if he want to protect it, so don't share. It's a matter of dirt the image and make it not nice.
I am sure that everyone here had learned on tutorials, made from people that did not charge for teaching. It doesn't mean that images are for free usage, but at least it don't need to have a rude message like (HEY, DON'T USE ME!!! I AM PROTECTED UNDER COPY RIGHT!!)
A discreet watermark is enough for images with low resolution.

First, the cat is a jaguar not a leopard (even if you could not tell from the photo Woxys did say in the description).
Second at no point does she imply that she thinks she is the best or that everyone would like to use her images (and perhaps she does also submit images to image banks, how would you know either way).
You think she tried and they wouldn't let her? I doubt it, I've seen far worse quality images for sale why would they refuse hers?
As for the watermark it is barely noticeable. People put watermarks on their art to show it is their own work and they do not wish for other people to use it (yes some lowlifes might take it anyway and get rid of the mark but the majority of people respect that and will not use it), if there was no water mark then it may be viewed as a stock image and anyone can use it. For someone who has put a lot of effort into a painting or getting the right shot making that image a free for all seems rather over generous . I would not want anyone using something I have done as if it was their own and I think a lot of other artists would feel the same way.
I don't hate watermarks, they are their for a reason, copyright is an important thing, sure it could be in the description but not everyone reads the description.
So no, I do not agree.

It is not a cougar... Or it's a leopard or it is a Jaguar (also known as Onša Pintada)
Cougar don't have this pattern, so the description have wrong information.
I think this image could easily be accepted as a stock, but I keep my question about why have two watermarks on it.
If this person have fear that someone can use it without aproval, so why does he share it on Deviant Art?
I am stock seller, I upload images for sell on Dreamstime and not for sell on Deviant Art, but I tell clear that the usage is under my aproval and that's enough for me. Of course some people can use it anyway but they would do too if I put watermaks. But the point is that I would not make a watermark on the middle of an image with low resolution on a place full of others that have no watermark and on a place full of people who make tutorials teaching others.
Deviant Art is a comunity of artist, that are not obligated to GIVE they images, but they share in a positive way. When I see two watermaks on an image I think it's not nice. And when it's on the middle like this one i think it's actualy stupidity.

a guy, who is using childish "arguments" and has so many advices what should I do with my OWN property (and he accuses me while he is not able to read the description of the photo) deserves a matching name and I did not want to be rude :D

Hm, I think all he wanted to do was to post some controversial comment to make people visit his profile. And unfortunately it seems to work ;D

Ok, first jaguars and leopards are two different species of cat (anyone with a basic knowledge of biology knows this), the leopards habitat is africa, asia and the middle east and the jaguars is central and south america. The description clearly explains why she called it a cougar (it is a joke as in the US and UK 'cougar' refers to a woman who is dating a younger guy), you say the description has the wrong information when you blatantly didn't even bother to read it.
It has one watermark, the one in the middle, the other mark is her deviant art name, that's useful to people who did not see this on DA and want to see more of her work (it's not covering up an important part of the photo).
What you do or don't do with your watermarks is up to you, what other people do with theirs is up to them. I would not call this low res and I also do not think that just because some art is made for other people to use or to help other people learn all art needs to be in this category, it is perfectly acceptable to be secretive with your techniques, or not allow anyone to use your work for any purpose (it is entirely up to the artist).
This image is shared in a positive way, she uploaded it, people enjoyed looking at it, so that is positive.
Perhaps she has had images stolen in the past and that is why she feels the need for an obvious watermark.

thank you once more for support  do not you just love those funny guys who know very well what EXACTLY you should do with your own property?

That guy was stupid and ignorant enough to "teach" without reading the description - as you have just said :giggle:

No problem, it annoyed me what he said so I thought I'd take action, I'm sure you can defend yourself but support is always nice.
As you said it is your property so it's up to you what you do with it.
From his comments I got he was pretty stupid - perhaps he is just trying to say something to get people angry or perhaps he wants people to not watermark their work so he can use it/ pass it off as his own... suspicious I think.
Hug
If he says more crap I'm happy to continue defending you.
