The Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex, clunozobec africky) from ZOO Prague, Czech republic  very rarely kept species of bird! And rarely posted here on dA :giggle:

Thank you for your comments and faves
____________

INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:

Name: Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex)
Location: tropical east Africa (Sudan – Tanzania)
Size: body: 120 cm, wing span: 230-260 cm weight: 7 Kg
Diet: fish, reptiles, birds, little mammals
Conservation status: Vulnerable
Interesting facts: its amazing big beak gave this bird a name – in various languages, they are called shoebills, whale-headed storks or boat-beaks | they live in swamps, they inhabit river shores | female lays 2 eggs, both parents take care – they put water on eggs and they spread the wings above the nest to protect the eggs and babies from direct sun | they have unnusual hunting technique, as their beak is very big and heavy | they hunt even crocodiles! | they do not live in groups, they are solitary. Only during mating season, they meet and then they take care for babies | they are very shy | there are only 13 ZOOs in the world which keep shoebills!

This is truly a beautiful picture which I just have to write a critique on, I couldn't leave it.

+ side
This photo is truly original, before this I didn't know this type of bird even existed. First of all, the coat is wonderful. Under her eye to the top of her neck is fluffy, soft fur that I just want to cuddle with. Later come the real feathers. The way the bird is positioned and holding it's head down is picture-perfect, like the scene was set up. I really like how the background is totally blurred out, pointing all of the attention towards the bird itself.

- side
I can find nothing wrong with this picture at all, it really fascinates me and I have to start googling more about this bird right now.

This is a wonderful picture, keep the great work up! As your title says, this picture is very, very special.

An awesome bird. Looks like it'd be pretty tall (more than 120 cm).
