Red panda (Ailurus fulgens, panda cervena) from ZOO Schönbrunn, Vienna, Austria

In many ZOOs, it is very difficult to snap a red panda, as they tend to sleep a lot and to hide in the top of trees. If you want to find real camera posers, go to ZOO Vienna, they are always active and giving you some faces! ;D

Yes, I await one million of "oh my godzzzz, itz Pabuuuuuuuu" comments. It happens everytime I post a photo of a red panda. How original, people. Really.

Location: Himalayas (from Nepal to China)
Size: 60 cm long body + 60 cm long tail weight: 6 kg
Diet: mostly bamboo, birds, fish, eggs, small rodents, insects
Conservation status: Endangered
Interesting facts: red panda is solitary animal | red pandas can climb perfectly, they spend a lot of time on the trees | after birth, baby red pandas slowly change colour of their eyes | lifespan of red panda is some 10 years | unfortunately, local people use fur of red panda | other name for red panda is firefox
