Common Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus, delfin skakavy) from brand new dolphin lagoon ZOO / dolphinarium Nuremberg, Germany
Although new dolphin habitat, Nurnberg's Lagoon, is already opened for few months, I have not seen many underwater photos taken there. So I post this to show, that it is possible to take some relatively sharp close-ups of dolphins in the Lagoon!

INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:
Name: Common Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) Location: warm and temperate tropical oceans worldwide Size: 2 - 4 metres long weight: 150 – 650 kg Diet: fish, cephalopod, crustacean Conservation status: Least Concern Interesting facts: dolphin is a mammal, not a fish! Baby dolphins always drink mother milk | dolphins have bigger brains, than humans | dolphins usually live in groups | dolphin is one of few animals, who kill not only for food! Dolphins are well-known for killing porpoises, their smaller "cousins". Male dolphins are also known to rape the females. Male dolphins even kill baby dolphins to make their mothers want to mate again. Dolphins are not that cute and nice animals, as many people think. They have no problem to kill a shark and they sometime annoy or sexually harass swimmers in the sea | dolphins use very effective echolocation to search for prey | dolphins are time to time found washed ashore, too often dying – nobody knows, why this happens. Relationship with humans: people keep dolphins in aquariums and dolphinarius, where the animals perform special tricks – dolphins very easily learn those tricks | there are scientific researches about dolphins, which usually prove their high inteligence | dolphins appear in many human legends | some dolphins help people to hunt fish throught whole generations of both, people and dolphins | US army uses dolphins, teaching them to find mines and so on... | in some parts of the world, wild dolphins come from their own will to interact with people
This photo belongs to me and I can very easily prove, that it was me, who took this shot. So please, respect my copyright if you want to use my work, ask me first to gain my permission, please! Thank you
Sorry I apparently can't read. I'm glad it's not the same place though. I guess this was the seventh dolphin to die there in 3 years. That's a pretty bad record.
well, do not think that the reality can be pretty different For example I can promise you, that very, but VERY soon, another dolphin, Moby, will die in Nuremberg. It is because he is 52 years old, which is extremely high age for dolphins. Two years ago, already very old female Eva died too - it was natural death, she lived much longer life than is average for wild dolphins.
But! Be sure, that after Moby dies, there will be titles like "TWO DEATHS OF DOLPHINS IN TWO YEARS! CLOSE NUREMBERG'S DOLPHINARIUM!". Which is pretty stupid, because yes, two dolphins die in two years, but at the same time, there is nothing wrong about it. Average life span of wild dolphins is 25 years. Moby's and Eva's lives were MUCH longer. But be sure, those titles like "Terrible dolphinarium of death: two dead dolphins in two years" will occure after Moby dies...
Yeah, I'll try to be more discerning when I read news articles then. I think an article about the death of those dolphins should celebrate how long they lived and what the zoo was able to achieve when it happens. Unfortunately angry headlines usually sell better than happy ones. I feel like Nuremberg may be a little more responsible with their dolphins though, especially after buying them a new exhibit.
I like the mini rainbow reflection on its face

I hope Sunny will give birth to alive healthy baby, who will grow well
