Location: bushes from India to South Africa
Size: 65 cm long body + 30 cm long tail
weight: 18 kg
Diet: hyrax, hares, smaller antelopes, rodents, birds
Conservation status: Least Concern
Interesting facts: word “caracal“ has its origin in Turkish words, which mean “black ear“
| caracal is relative to lynx
| caracal can survive long time without water, using only liquid from its preys
| caracal usually hunts during night or during colder day
| mother gives birth to two cubs, she moves them very often to new places to protect them from predators
| caracal can run very fast. They also hide their prey on the trees as leopards do
| caracal used to be domesticated
