Name: Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) Location: Russia, near Amur river and also China Size: 3,3 m long body + tail, 1,25 m high weight: 300 kg Diet: deers, boars, wapiti, elks, bears, fish, rabbits Conservation status: Critically Endangered Interesting facts: ASmur tigers do not live in groups. Every tiger has its own territory and cats meet only to mate. Only female then take care of 1-5 kittens. Father does not look after his babies. Other males can kill the cubs, so mother must be very careful and she looks for her cubs until they are 2 years old | Amur tiger is the biggest of all tiger subspecies and is the largest living felid | there are only some 300 Amur tigers living in the wild and 1000 tigers who are held in ZOOs | Amur tigers swim very well and they can swim for quite long distance | they are threatened by hunters who kill them for their amazing fur | Amur tigers live in the area, which is almost all the time covered with snow. So tigers have very thick fur and their huge paws have function of snow-shoes | Amur tiger hunts also during day, not only in the night | they hide their prey to come back later and eat it
